On July 19, 2018 Spotify announced that artists and labels can submit music for playlist consideration. Previously, lesser known artist had to do a lot of leg work to track down Spotify playlist curators and pitch their music. With the release of this new beta feature, artists can submit unreleased music to the Spotify editorial team directly.
Spotify playlist submission guidelines
Before submitting your music, there are a few things that should be considered.
- You must have a Spotify for Artist account or be a team member in order to submit a song.
- Only one unreleased song can be submitted at a time.
- You should submit songs at least seven days prior to its release. This will ensure your song will automatically appear in your follower’s Release Radar playlist.
How to submit a song
As a Spotify artist or label, you can login to your account or visit your Spotify analytics to submit your unreleased song. In doing so, you will need to provide information about the track such as genre and mood. This information about the track will be critical to your chances of placement. To learn more about this playlist submission you can read the official Spotify release.
