Version 2 of The Sneaker Database API is almost here! Before jumping into all of the exciting news about V2, let’s first catch up on what’s been happening since the last time you heard from us.
What changed with The Sneaker Database
Over the past few months, interest in The Sneaker Database has grown significantly. In order to keep up with increasing demand for new data and to provide new features we have transitioned to a freemium model. We are truly grateful for all of the support we have received and believe that this will enable us to become the go to source for all sneaker data. Some of the features and data attributes we have identified on our roadmap include:
- UPCs
- Additional sneaker images
- Predictive price valuations
In order to simplify user management and to provide a better consumer experience, we have transferred our APIs to the Rapid API platform. Rapid API is where you’ll find documentation, announcements, and pricing for all of our public facing APIs. Anyone looking to use our APIs will now need to obtain an API key via a Rapid API subscription.
In addition to transferring over to Rapid API, we have added luxury brands to our database. With this addition, The Sneaker Database now has sneakers from 20+ brands. Some of the newly added brands include:
- Gucci
- Versace
- Dior
- Saint Laurent
What’s coming to The Sneaker Database
We are proud to announce that Version 2 will be available May 3rd. We would like to thank everyone that has taken time to test and provide feedback. Your time and effort hasn’t gone unnoticed and we are excited to see how well our new version of the API will be received.
The most noticeable differences between version 1 and 2 include:
- Version 2 has an additional 90,000 sneakers
- New data attributes (links to resell sites, description, & estimated market value)
More details around the differences will be shared in a later post.
Until next time
